Description
This photograph of a bed of fallen White Oak leaves was taken at Fort Steilacoom Park in Western Washington State in September. The Oregon White Oak tree is native to the West Coast and only grows in very limited areas. It likes to live in prairie areas where the native evergreens don't shade it's environment. Lots of rain in the winter and lots of sun in the summer season is the preference for this rare tree. You can find it from Western Washington down the coast of Oregon State and onto the Northern meadows of Northern California. It is slow growing and takes its time.
