Description

Hood Canal is a natural saltwater canal located in Western Washington State. It is part of the larger body known as the Salish Sea and Puget Sound. Its coastline is dotted by small towns such as Union, Belfair, Hoodsport, and Lilliwaup. The Olympic Peninsula lies West of the canal. This oil painting was inspired by a summer evening view from the area of Belfair looking across the canal to the small town of Hoodsport. The sun was bright behind the evergreen trees that cling to the shoreline.
