The Iris is one of the first flowers to make an appearance in my backyard each spring. Its lovely purple flowers always give me hope about the future and the warm weather to come. It is usually blessed by gentle rains, but survives and leads the rest of my garden in their parade of warm, color, and new life. This painting was inspired by the first blooms of the year.
