This painting was inspired by some everyday items in my kitchen. I love the way the stainless steel mixing bowl reflected on everything nearby and I love the color of oranges. The two together spoke to me one afternoon and the result was this oil painting on canvas. It is simple things like the shadows on the table top, the wrinkle of the cloth that capture my attention. A poem by one of my favorite poets, William Carlos Williams, entitled "This is Just to Say," expresses the simplicity of the experience.
