When I created this abstract landscape painting, there were a number of things that were swarming in the back of my head. I started with a red under painting because I love red. Lines and patterns of the rural landscape were also perched back there somewhere. As I worked, I thought about distance and how landscapes turn blue as they recede and become more yellow as they move forward. I thought of roads and fields, of crops and furrows, and of the beauty of the earth.
