This painting was inspired by an early spring hike along the Dechutes River Trail in Central Oregon. The trail parallels the Dechutes River and is part of the Dechutes National Forest. It is a wonderful hike with rapids and waterfalls every few miles. Herds of elk wander the area along with many other types of woodland creatures. Volcanic rocks spatter the trail and old lava flows provide testament to a geological history of volcanic activity. It is a great area for lovers of the outdoors. Mountain bikes are common and in just a few minutes, visitors can be in the mountains skiing, show shoeing, or sledding at Mount Bachelor. It's definitely worth a visit if you like the outdoors and outdoor adventures. The painting was created with oil paints on a gallery canvas.
